I've just upgraded my system using that board and haven't had an issue at all. system was 100% stable and overclocked stable at 2.5ghz. NOTE: All parts worked PERFECTLY in my A8N-E board last week. BUT before i do i want to try and solve these problems. I am looking to get it replaced at shop next week some time. I am not going to reload untill i find a semy decent solution to problem or some 1 sais yes is a DOA board.

I have lost my OS install 3 times this weekend.

TAGAN 600Watt PSU with x3 rails of 20a for 12vĪntec 1000AMG Plus View (decked out with 80mm fans)ĬPU is cooled with a Zalman CNPS9500 and it's rotated to compliment case airflow from front to back.Īll latest drivers also tried some non WHQL drives for SLI (the beta from ) X1 Leadtech 7800GTX (flashed with same bios) both cards have identical PCB X1 ASUS 7800GTX (Custom BIOS flashed to have higer voltage and clocks) Tempreture stays the same if CPU is overclocked or not which is a little strange. The problems occure when overclocked AND are factory default specs. from what i have read online it SHOULD be faster. they have not cause any crashing but i was expecting a bigger rise in performance since i forked out over 1k for VGA. Lastly offcorse is the SLI related issues. Secondly the very strange RAID related issues, both loading OS related with ACPI and no Bootable raid option, plus random HDD related lockups. come home and it's sittin there asking for FFd theCD then FDD then CD.

and will loop for hours asking for this, i tuend PC on with Prime95 then went to the beach. My main concers are offcorse Stability 1st (the bad Bios) problem is deffinatly the worst, sometimes if you leave PC on it will reboot and sit at the screen asking for a FDD or a CD with a recovery bios. As a default the Asus Probe repors 45deg on chipset as RED (bad) but this PC POSTS at 42deg on cipset. this board goes 45-52 just in windows and chipset always about 45deg and up to 50 in games. My old Asus A8N-E nfroce4 non sli) was very stable CPU at 45deg c and only went up in games chipset moved up and down 2 deg if gaming or not. Heat related issue, Both CPu and Chipset temps tendo jump up and down ALLOT litirally with every application you run. i beleive it's a glitch that may be part of overall fault. Even tho this may not cause any loading issues. My old nforce4 board non SLI and nForce3 boards allowed me to change this option. Even tho i was still able to boot of the array this dose consurn me. The Bootable Array option is ALWAYS greyed out no mater what array and how many drives you use. Unable to create a RAID array of any type and make it a Bootable raid array. BSOD is more common after couple hours gaming, HD light contantly on only happend like 2ce. Locking up in OS, tends to either BSOD, OR will sit there with HDD light perminantly on (as if HD is having issue) and the OS lockes up but dose not So SLI seems to work just not well also gained only 800 points in 3dmark06 BUT, with x2 7800GTX's clocked at 500 core and 1400 memory, i am only benching a 9170 in 3dmark05 (on my last non sli board my x1 GTX was getting 8450points. i am YET to pinpoint the source if it's the mainboard or not. SOLUTION: reshufle the drives on the sata ports and recreate array. On occasion it reports a Failed RAID and drops out one of the HDD's, even tho all drives have been tested OK with diag tools and worked fine on preveous PC's, hasent dose it since cable reshufle Every other time will NOT POST even on factory default settings with HDD light constanly on. SOLUTION: simple press reset button on PC and it will boot to OS fine again. Providing the latest BIOS to recover from dose not fix fault. on Average every 3rd reboot will cause system to bring up a message, BAD bios Checksum, attempting to recover Bios please insert a Floopy with recovery bios. SOLUTION: turning off ACPI and APM in the bios

Dissableing those 2 option allow me to load RAID0 with x3 Raptors.

Once drivers are specified from floppy it copyes files, goes for a reboot to start loading windows then BSOD with a message your BIOS is not ACPI compliant update your bios. Will NOT load windows onto ANY RAID, without turning off ACPI and APM in the bios. i finally joined the SLI crew and purchased a 2nd 7800GTX, not wanting to couple nice equiptment with a wlcrapo board i "invested" in a totally awsome board. G'day folks, i have been running nforce boards one way or anouther since nForce1 and in many cases had multiple boards from the same nforce family.
